ADU in the city of Los Angeles

ADU in the City of
Los Angeles

What can you fit into a 600 sq ft ADU? Pretty much everything you need for your friends and family visiting you in the city. We didn’t have much room to work with, as the property’s total square footage is 5,500 square feet. But this is a testament that with smart design, you can make a functional, open, and elegant ADU in the City of Los Angeles.

The living room is the hub of every home. And we designed this living area to feel warm, inviting, and versatile. We made sure that the space feels open yet practical. The bifold doors and single glass door let in plenty of sunlight and make the feel bigger than it is. If you’re in LA, it’s all about indoor/outdoor living.

Finding the right ADU Builder in Los Angeles

It’s almost impossible to believe any professional who says they are the best ADU Builders in Los Angeles. So, how do you find the right one? Our clients contracted us originally to build their home. And when we advised them that they might have enough space to build an ADU/Pool House they were over the moon. Most of the time clients ask us to do something small to their build, but this was the biggest change order we’ve ever had.

How do you make sure my ADU matches my house?

The way we make sure your ADU matches your house is we copy the architectural style, we use consistent materials, and we match the color palette. This was easy with this project because we were already in the middle of finishing up the house we were building for them. Typically, we make our ADUs to be a natural extension of your house.

How to design an ADU in the City of Los Angeles?

Designing an ADU means making the most out of a small space. It’s important to make smart choices. Where will the kitchen take the least amount of space? How do we maximize the plumbing? By sharing a wall with the bathroom. How can we use natural light to make it feel brighter? Glass sliding doors, big ones that open into the pool area. All while making sure that your choices will all pass inspection. If you make all the right decisions in the beginning, everything else falls into place.

What does a custom bedroom look like in an ADU?

The bedroom in this ADU was meant to stand out, thanks to its custom wall paneling featuring curved patterns that add texture and visual interest to the room. It elevates the room by making it feel both inviting and modern. To maximize functionality, we built space-saving closets. Notice that they blend easily into the neutral color palette, continuing the calm and cohesive design. This bedroom reminds us that design isn’t just about function it’s also about how it makes you feel. We hope that everyone who stays in this room feels calm and relaxed.
Finally, let’s talk about the bathroom. We chose full-height texture stone in the shower to give it that high-end spa feeling. But a bonus for using this big stone is that it’s easier to clean because it has fewer grout lines. Of course, we found a way to add a window. And we have a bench, because we want everyone that showers here to feel like it might be a spa. And look how big we made the niche! That will for sure fit every shampoo and conditioner any guest brings over. It’s the little things, you know?
